Yorkshire’s Legal People, Chadwick Lawrence, have been announced as official legal partners for The HD One development, Yorkshire’s most significant leisure development, set to take place at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield.
As official legal partners, Chadwick Lawrence will be the lead law firm on the project. They will help to oversee the progression of the development, making sure that all legal requirements for an impressive development of this size and nature are in place prior to opening. The firm will also assist with ongoing day to day legal advice and legal support across all aspects of the project.
The partnership comes about following a long standing relationship with KSDL. Chadwick Lawrence have been advisors to KSDL for several years, and have an in depth knowledge of the legal issues which affect the site and the commercial relationship which KSDL enjoys with its high profile tenants, including Huddersfield Town AFC and Huddersfield Giants.
Chadwick Lawrence are already business partners at the Stadium, and have been stand sponsors for many years. The firm recently sponsored the famous ‘Cowshed’ at the Stadium, and is incredibly familiar with the local area and the community surrounding the development.
Although a number of national legal firms had previously advised on the project, a decision was taken at board level to appoint local professionals to the HD One project wherever possible.
The project will be overseen by Steven Bonfield, Partner of the Company and Commercial Department of Chadwick Lawrence, who will take the role of Legal Project Manager. Steven will be responsible for managing the firm’s team of corporate and property specialists and reporting to the directors, as well as being directly involved in the negotiation of the commercial and corporate governance aspects of the various joint venture companies which will be involved in the project.
“This is a huge project which recognises the high level of expertise Chadwick Lawrence had as a firm,” said Neil Wilson, Managing Partner at Chadwick Lawrence, “Our team has the professional ability and strength to deliver such a prestigious programme of work on a development which is set to truly bring a positive and exciting change to Huddersfield and the local community.”
“This is a fantastic opportunity for Chadwick Lawrence to show what we can do on the big stage,” said Steven Bonfield, Partner at Chadwick Lawrence.
“We are extremely proud of our involvement in Huddersfield and the local community, and applaud the directors of KSDL for having the faith and commitment to choose local professional partners to help complete this project.”
‘Although The HD One is progressing well, there is a lot of detailed work still to do, before construction can start,” said Gareth Davies, managing director of KSDL, “Much of this work is of a legal nature and both the board of KSDL and our development partners are pleased to be working ever more closely with Chadwick Lawrence. Their knowledge of our site and overall expertise are second to none.”
